‘Instruction for the Novice Shooter’ is an instructional programme with an emphasis on safety and is designed to be watched many times. Steve Denny, Chief Instructor at the West Wycombe Shooting Ground, takes three pupils, with varying experience from the novice to the competition shooter, and demonstrates with the use of clays the common mistakes made how to overcome them.

For the novice interested in taking up game shooting Steve Denny explains the fundamental stance, gun handling and safety required by all shooters. We follow the pupil through from the eye dominance check to her first breaking clay!

The more advanced pupil is set a series of challenging targets simulating driven pheasant, with instruction on safety in the shooting field.

Finally Steve Denny is joined by 13 year old Richard Faulds, winner of the 1990 English Open Class C to demonstrate and discuss the more advanced shots likely to be encountered by the younger shooter.
